Derby County Vs MCFC - Players' Lounge Wednesay 30th Jan K.O. 11.45pm

Following Sunday's appallingly abysmal performance in Sheffield, Sven takes his free-falling Blues to Pride Park this Wednesday evening for a must-win game against the Premier League's whipping boys, Derby County. So, another away defeat it is then.

I'd love feel a tad more optimistic, but the only thing separating City over the last few weeks from the rubbish that was served up last year is the absence of the court jester running up and down the touchline.

City recorded a 1-0 victory over the Rams in the reverse fixture at Eastlands early on in the season, courtesy of a wonder goal by Michael Johnson. Unfortunately, injury rules him out of this fixture, but hopefully Sturridge, Geovanni and Etuhu will all come into the side to shake things up a bit. God knows we need it.

Derby are probably the only team in the league playing worse than us at the moment (The BBC described their performance in the FA Cup defeat to Preston as "the worst by any team ever") so I'm certainly not expecting a classic. But there are plenty of entertaining alternatives on show should the boredom levels reach critical, with Tottenham travelling to Everton, the Rags taking on Portsmouth and West Ham hosting Liverpool in the evening's other fixtures.

MCFC Dubai will be meeting as usual from 10.30pm at the Player's Lounge in Bur Dubai's Chelsea Hotel to watch this match live on the big screen with English commentary. I hope I've cheered up a bit by then.

Dave
